What we provide

At Electric Bug we understand that sometimes you dont want the cost or hassle of purchasing new equipment, especially if you are only using it for a short time! Walkie talkies, UHF radios, or two way radios, whatever you call them we have them for hire! We also have satellite phones, Starlink mini, PLBs and satellite messenger hire available.

Whether you’re looking to stay in touch with family or friends, need equipment for a job, or just need to tick that checkbox, Electric Bug offers cost effective hire equipment to suit you. Wondering about our satellite phone rental cost? Give us a call, the daily cost reduces the longer you hire a phone for. We also take a deposit for all hires, however this is fully refunded after you return.

How to hire?

Our hire fleet comes with any chargers and accessories you may need, so you are ready to hit the road! If you can’t make it in to the store, no worries! Give us a call and we can organise a courier to your door. If you are hiring a two way radio (or other equipment!) for a one way trip, you can even post it back to us.

Our satellite phone hire fleet is comprised of reliable, easy to use Iridium 9555 phones. These come connected to the Iridium network, the most reliable satellite network in Australia, giving you peace of mind. The phones also come with a standard Australian ’04’ number, meaning it’s free to call for most people! Minimum hire charge $100 for 4 days.

We have both handheld and in car two way radios for hire. Whether you need them for short or long term, hiring is a cost effective option. Easy to install and use, these are perfect for camping, school trips or commercial hire. Give us a call and we can also assist with any antennas, speaker mics or other accessories you may need.

A PLB is a cheap, unobtrusive way to ensure your safety when travelling. When activated, this small device will alert emergency services of your location. We will also program in up to three of your emergency contacts. Our hire model is the MT610G. We also have a Zoleo satellite communicator available for hire which offers two way satellite messaging, check-ins and SOS.

Satellite Phone Plans

Electric Bug is a licensed Pivotel Dealer in Adelaide. We can assist with satellite phone sales, repairs, sat phone plan changes and connections. Electric Bug and Pivotel provide postpaid satellite phone plans to suit all satellite phone models and usage levels. We also offer group plans which gives you multiple phone plans at a discount.

Whether you’re needing a phone for a remote trip or are looking for a custom solution for your large remote or marine business, we can help.

We offer plans through Pivotel. The available plans will depend on what type of satellite phone you have. Thuraya, Iridium and Inmarsat each operate their own network, therefore each device is locked to that network. You have the option of month-to-month casual sat phone plans or a 12 month contract. Your SIM can also be put on suspension if you do not need it for a few months, which ensures you keep your phone number.

If you only need a satellite phone a few times a year, our hire service may be for you! Our hire fleet comes already connected to the Pivotel network, and can be a cost effective option for infrequent users.

Bring your equipment into the shop, our technician will get it fixed for you or, if it is under warranty, we can send it away and get a replacement for you. We can perform GPS software upgrades in store, as well as troubleshooting. Many issues can be fixed with a software upgrade or just a new battery! Electric Bug will make sure it is all working before we return your item to you.

If the product is not something we offer in-house repairs for, we can organise repair, refurbishment or replacement from the manufacturer or their authorised repairer. Even if your product was not purchased from us, we can assist with Garmin replacements, GME repairs, Icom, Uniden, Iridium and more. If you need a UHF radio repair, GPS repair or satellite phone repair in Adelaide or surrounds, give us a call. For rural or remote customers, we can organise repairs for you as well.

We can also offer UHF Radio, EPIRB or Satellite Phone hire for the period your device is away at the repairer!

Our technician has decades of experience and has seen it all! If you need more information or are unsure if your equipment is something we fix, please give us a call or come in store!
